Despite a chance of thunderstorms, 36 racers turned up for the CRANDIC Time Trial on June 6. Continuing a run of good luck with the weather, we never had more than a sprinkle. And in contrast with last month, light winds made for a fast night.
Many racers put down fast times, including Timothy Doyle coming within seconds of the former course record. The stand out ride of the evening, though, was Luke Arens, home for the summer from Marion University.
Luke used to threaten our course record as a junior back when he raced the CRANDIC Time Trial on his road bike. Now a Cat 1 racer with Above and Beyond Cancer p/b Bike World, Luke showed up last night "just for fun" with full aero bike and kit, and set himself a goal of 30mph average. He rode 20:11.59 to SMASH our course record by almost a minute and a half. Next month he's shooting for sub 20!
Special thanks to Michelle Wall for so many wonderful photos.
